Admissions & Transfers
Ashmole Primary School is a one form entry school from Reception to Year 6, each class having places for up 30 children. Prospective parents are welcome to visit the school. If you would like to view the school please telephone the office for an appointment.
Ashmole has a Nursery with 52 places (26 full time equivalent). We take children from the term after their 3rd birthday.
Our Nursery opening times:
Current government legislation funds Nursery places for 3 and 4 year olds for 15 hours a week. All children who start in our Nursery attend either mornings or afternoons, 5 days a week during term time.
Parents have no automatic right to a full time Nursery place for their child. The school will determine which children are eligible based on information gathered from parents, home visits and other sources according to one or more of the following criteria:
- To children who are “looked after”, or who have an allocated social worker who has provided written support of the need for a full time place as part of a child’s Plan;
- To children who have been recommended for a full time place by a member of Team Around the Child locality or Disability Panel;
- To children who are eligible for free school meals or who are newly arrived or an asylum seeker and there is evidence that home circumstances could significantly affect the child’s well-being;
- Either or both parents are in full time employment or education and can evidence this declaration if required.
As part of our transition policy (for children transferring from Nursery to Reception) we aim to offer at least half a term full time in our Nursery, the term before the child is due to start school (whether at Ashmole or elsewhere). The aim of this is for the children to become accustomed to a full school day and to having lunch in school.
If you would like to apply for a Nursery place please fill in an application form, which can be obtained from the schools office or downloaded from this link:
The process of applying for a school place for your child involves completing an application form or on-line application where you can list up to 3 choices. The application is made direct to the Local Education Authority (LEA) that the school is in, ie if you are applying to Ashmole and other local schools you will apply to Lambeth LEA; if you wish to apply for a school in another borough you will need to contact the relevant LEA for their form or apply online to that LEA.
The link below takes you to the Lambeth website, which will give full information about applying for a school place:

There is no supplementary form to apply to Ashmole Primary School.
If your child already attends a school but you would like them to transfer to Ashmole you need to apply through the LEA. This is called In-Year Admissions. You will need to complete a paper form (you cannot currently apply online, only forms with the original signature will be processed) and submit it to the LEA.
